When the laminate (Project 7) was finished, it left a space beside the heavy rock fireplace. It took some time to figure out a way to get the trim applied properly.
To start, a piece of card stock was aligned with the fireplace. Then using a pencil and stylus, the shapes of the rocks were drawn onto the cardstock. The cardstock was cut out and attached to the trim, which acted as the guide to cut the wood.
The trim stained slightly darker than the floor and is attached to the rock itself, allowing the laminate floor to 'float.'
